The Web Factory
Green Website Hosting VancouverGreen website hosting is a good thing!

We have made a commitment to manage and mitigate our climate impact. This comes from our long term vision that we need to be a sustainable business. The two tonnes of CO2 offsets that we've purchased more than cover all the activities that cause emissions in our business.
CopyrightWe're doing this by purchasing Canadian and Internationally based carbon offsets to help neutralize and reduce all the electricity and other emissions produced in the day to day activities of providing website hosting and design services to our valued customers. Through extensive research we've found CarbonZero to be a leader in corporate carbon reduction strategies. Our main concern in purchasing carbon offsets was that the majority of the funds were going to the projects. We've found CarbonZero to be transparent and open with the audit trails. Check out their website for all the details....you may want to buy some carbon offsets for yourself or your business.

Our offsets have been purchased through CarbonZero and are serialized, quantified, third-party verified and publicly listed on internationally recognized registries.

The PDF is the certificate we've been provided with to confirm the purchase and it includes the certification number which can be traced back to the registry: http://www.ghgregistries.ca/cleanprojects/masterprojectdetails_e.cfm?pid=912
The carbon offsets that we've purchased are in support of the Niagara, ON - Landfill Gas to Energy Project, more on the project below.

CopyrightNiagara, ON - Landfill Gas to Energy Project

The Landfill Gas to Energy Project is publicly listed on the CSA CleanProjects Registry and has been 3rd party verified under ISO-14064-2 by ICF International. This project collects, captures and recovers landfill gas originating at Niagara, Ontario’s East Quarry Landfill, and processes it into a useable fuel source for distribution via pipeline to a nearby recycled paper mill. Previously, a significant amount of landfill gas was released into the atmosphere where greenhouse gases contribute to the negative effects of climate change.

Upon distribution the processed landfill gas is conveyed to one of two boilers located in the recycled paper mill’s steam plant where it is combusted in conjunction with natural gas, this significantly reduces the energy requirements of the facility and further mitigates their climatic impact.
