Your finally ready to register your own piece of the web. Your domain name is one of the key pieces of your online presence. Be sure the domain name you choose is in line with your business. Key considerations when your coming up with a domain for your business include:
- easy to spell
- easy to remember
- same as your business name
- lenght
Other very important points are:
- you or someone you know should be the Administrative contact when your registering the domain, specifically the email address as this is where all renewal notices will be sent to AND if you ever loose the login information for your domain name the password retrieval email will go to the Administrative Contact
- brainstorm some names, make your list then you can click here to search if they are available. If they are, I recommend registering at least the one(s) you plan to use and others if your not sure. This will secure them if your not sure. I say this because someone else may have the same brainwave you're having.

Mobile Wallets - Mobile Payments.......all the rage, but not much happening
(created: 6/6/2012 at 2.46)
No end to press releases about the next 'big' thing in mobile payments. Here is a bit of a rund down on the main players in the marketplace:
- Google Wallet is in their second year and not much is happening ie: not much traction in the marketplace. This is due to the fact that they are limited by the Near Field Communications (NFC) technology they are using which requires the customer to have an NFC enabled mobile device and the vendor to have NFC enabled hardware at the retail end.
They are also hindered by the fact that you can only use Citi MasterCards and only specific phones on the Sprint network in the USA. In addition you can 'load' your wallet with 'cash' to use like a debit card and it supports some loyalty cards Obviously they are working on expanding the cards and mobile devices you can use, but for now it's pretty limited. More on mobile payments next time.
